The fully equipped 3 Tesla MRI is the latest device in the field of Magnetic Tomography. It offers twice the magnetic field's intensity compared to a 1,5 Tesla Scanner that most public and private radiotherapy centers use in northern Greece.

This powerful magnetic field:

  • reduces the time of the exam,
  • and a greater imaging resolution, even of the smallest lesions or the tumor foci.

The Perfusion Technique: It illustrates the brain's microvasculature. With this technique, doctors can easily assess a heavy ischemic stroke, and the proportion of viable brain tissue and then decide on the therapy. They can also study the microvasculature of brain tumors prior to the operation, to diagnose, and detect the stages and then decide on the therapies (radiation, chemotherapy).

MR Spectroscopy: Allows the assessment of the metabolites of the entire brain, enabling the classification of multiple tumor lesions, and the demyelinating foci of metabolic diseases.

Spine: The 3T MRI is able to get simultaneous images of the entire spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar) with very high resolution, thus greatly reducing the duration of the test. Also provides remarkably high resolution images of the spinal cord and roots for the diagnosis of tumors, demyelinating diseases, etc.

Musculoskeletal: The 3D imaging and the high resolution illustrate in detail the joints of the musculoskeletal system.

Breast: It significantly elevates the level of breast imaging, and enables the classification of lesions before and after, with the dynamic study conducted after injection of a contrast medium. Breast spectroscopy provides useful information.

Vessels: Magnetic resonance angiography non-invasively assesses the status of the blood vessels and without putting the patient at risk (carotid arteries, thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta, renal arteries, and even peripheral arteries with small diameters).

Body: The images of the abdominal organs (liver, spleen, pancreas) boast a high resolution and higher speed.

Moreover, the enhancement of the inner genital organs (uterus, ovaries) imaging is substantial, offering the possibility for a more accurate diagnosis for tumors.

The development of Magnetic Tomography for the prostate with special techniques offers additional information for the study of tumors, their staging and the therapy's monitoring.
